Billy is a school leader with six years of experience (Teach First PGDE). Working as Reading Lead at Ark Pioneer, an 'Outstanding' rated school, his leadership of literacy drove engagement and reading progress. OFSTED endorsed Billy's work in their report that reading was 'taught by experts' - staff Billy had coached for the year prior to the inspection. While working as an English Teacher at another comprehensive academy, he launched a programme for A-Level students to gain admission to Russell Group universities by enriching their personal statements with authentic reading experiences. Prior to becoming a teacher, Billy graduated with a Masters degree in English Literature from UCL and a first class undergraduate degree in English and Comparative Literature from Warwick.

Billy unlocks university level thinking for his students. He encourages young people to become independent and self-efficacious learners by adopting a constantly questioning approach in preparation for the challenges of their assessments and afterwards. By providing consistent, clear and encouraging feedback through a dialogic approach, Billy helps young people develop the self-aware and reflexive outlook possessed by great readers and great writers. He provides interactive feedback using innovative approaches such as shared Google Docs and Padlet during his online lessons.
